Exploring NJ’s Top-Rated School Districts

When it comes to finding the right home in New Jersey, quality of education often tops the list of priorities for my clients.

Luckily for us, we have no shortage of top-rated NJ school districts anywhere from North Jersey, Central Jersey (YES! Central Jersey now exists)  and all the way down to South Jersey. In fact, according to US News: New Jersey claims the coveted title of being the #1 state in the entire United States for education within the PK-12 spectrum, solidifying our position as the second-highest ranked state overall within the realm of education.

When choosing the right area for your family there is a lot to consider and it’s usually incredibly overwhelming. Keep in mind that even if the specific township you are looking at is not in the top 5 or the top 10 it does not mean it doesn’t have an A rating. In fact, it’s good to note that even the # 101st district in New Jersey garners an impressive A- rating! Jersey is a fantastic place to raise your kids and this is just another reason why I do not regret moving here at all.

For those unacquainted with my journey, I came to Brooklyn, NY when I was 5 years old. Immigrated from Russia with my family and lived in NYC for 25 years. I grew up in the public school system there and although I had a nice childhood and a decent education, I knew that when I was going to have my own family I was going to move IMMEDIATELY! I have now lived in 2 townships throughout NJ, when we brought our first house we moved to East Brunswick and our experience there was absolutely fantastic. The classrooms were small, the teachers amazing, 3 days into the school year every security guard, teacher, and parent knew your name and your child. It felt like we were a part of the community.

Fast forward a few years- my husband and I decided to move to Marlboro, NJ due to the fact that we had a lot of friends and family in the area.

Once again, fantastic experience with the Marlboro Board of Education! Fantastic teachers, school employees, and families. My oldest son Nicky also started playing for the Marlboro Township Football Team and my daughter Juliet is cheering for them. Living here I feel like I’m in my little suburban bubble of white picket-fenced happiness LOL! So I truly understand my parents when they want the same for their family. Had to add pics of my cuties below!

Taking a step back, it’s crucial to consider another pivotal aspect beyond school rankings when choosing the right town: taxes. Engaging in open dialogue with your Realtor about the tax structures in various towns is essential. My own decision to move away from East Brunswick was significantly influenced by tax considerations—a tangible financial factor. Paying over $10,000 annually for a property under a quarter of an acre, sans a pool, was a turning point in our decision-making process.
